YES! CAMP @ Nowhere

Picture
Yes! Camp is an experience in positivity and openness.

We surrender to live by saying YES!
We are spiritual-seekers with a twist of sexiness.
We are passionate about experimentation, nutrition, meditation, seduction, spirituality, breathing, partying, laughing and everything we don't yet know about.

Come teach us and learn from us - we love you already!

Essentials

Yes! is about opening ourselves to the world and focusing our energies to accomplish dreams ambitions we all strive for.
Here are some of the logistics we provide:
Picture

Food

We focus our plans to ensure there is one large belly filling meal per day. We also have options for a light breakfast.
Picture

Water

You will have as much water as you can reasonably use.
Picture

Shelter

A space to meet and rest, protected from the intensity of the sun.

Our Cosmic Laws

YES, we are here to be open and experience new things
YES, we are here to connect with one another
YES, we are eccentric, kind and loving
YES, we are playful and lighthearted
YES, we surrender to the normal course of events, setbacks included
YES, we strive to communicate clearly, for ourselves and others
YES, we embrace our animalistic side
YES, we are here to learn about ourselves and YES, we see "others" as the reflection of ourselves
YES, we are responsible human beings
YES, we come informed and prepared

Workshops

Workshops for 2022 are still incubating! Join us and be a part of the magic!

In our last incarnation we offered more than 60 different workshops and talks including: flavor tripping, polyamorous chats, story telling, authentic relating, tantra practices, rope workshops, orgies, breathing workshops, sex Olympics, orgasmic meditation, movement practices and much more!

The People

A selection of humans who helped lay the foundation we grow from...

Ramsay

I am a wild weirdo, queer creator and nonsense enthusiast living and kinking up the art scene in Amsterdam.

Burning allows me to express my whole, authentic self freely in interaction with others who seek and embody a similar state of inner truth and outer expression.

I'm an experience junkie with enough chips on my shoulder to make a sizable plate of nachos.

In real life I'm a doctor who spent a few years studying sexuality. In Italy I used to have a small practice in sexual medicine; thus, Dr. Sex

Arthur

I am a human with a serious knack for life.

And an even bigger appetite for food.

Nowhere is home to my heart.

I value authenticity, courage, and openness.

Over time, on my path of personal growth my desire for meaningless sexual encounters has been replaced by a profound longing to be seen authentically and connect on a deeper level.

I am a pragmatic and a dreamer, a scientist and a spiritual being, a teacher and a student. With everything I do I strive for connection and communication.

Let’s make Yes! camp a place where we can all be the best versions of ourselves!

In default world, I grow plants and I cook them, I make raw cacao and I travel visiting intentional communities...

oh and I also founded one of these in Costa Rica - come by to dance with fireflies and build things anytime!

Peter

I'm an addict of all things life. I burn because it provides food for my soul. To build, play and destroy these wonderful temporary worlds is such a beautiful way to live.

I'm currently living in Amsterdam, running and biking as much as possible.

The Fine Print...

Participation
Nowhere is a participatory event.  Camp members are expected to contribute to the effort required in making the camp and overall event possible. There are many possible roles, from leadership, through build and strike. Leave no trace, garbage shifts, shit ninjas operate during the build.

Yes! camp is relatively established, and may not have enough roles for everyone. In the case where a person doesn't have a primary role within the camp, that person is expected to contribute a shift (at minimum) to the Nowhere organization at large.
Food, Drinks & Water
Each day of the burn, a different cooking team, composed of 6 / 7 camp members, is responsible for serving dinner once during the week right after sundown.

We cook this meal in our kitchen which is is equipped with large paella pans which make the process of cooking for 50 go quite smoothly.

When the meal is ready, we all sit, share
gratitude and enjoy the meal together in our dome, sharing stories from the day's workshops and gathering our forces for our nightly explorations.

For 2022 we will also continue or plan to provide museli and a variety of milk alternatives for
breakfast purposes.

Typically we have leftovers from dinner that some choose to make a quick lunch from.

Our meals typically fall in the vegetarian/vegan direction, though half the nights typically have a more carnivorous option.

We will have as much water as you can reasonably use.

Our priority is safety and being able to wash / refresh / shower as many times a day as we want.

We are committed to water conservation but want to remain healthy and hydrated.

We have refrigerators to keep the camp's food cold and fresh.
Technology
Every year our pre-event technology evolves a bit, to align with the times and the changing needs of the camp. In the past we've used combinations of: whatsapp, slack, zoom, facebook groups, google drives/forms/spreadsheets, survey money, and carrier pigeons. We're willing to try new things which are useful, though we're not typically after the newest shiniest held together with some sketchy duct tape style tech. With our size, reliable and ease are important. Let us know if you have suggestions, needs or restrictions on the technology (or any other) front.
Morning Circles
Every morning, once the sun has let us know it's time, and the grogginess has been caffeinated away, we will host a morning circle. During this time we all have a moment to check in with ourselves and each other. Experiences at Nowhere cover all parts of the rainbow, if it were a shaped like the most intense rollercoaster ever. And just when you thought it was done... BACKWARDS! These morning circles are a very good opportunity to center yourself, process your experiences, hear epic stories, have a bit of fomo, to say when we are not OK, connect with each other, and share the necessary some daily housekeeping points. Experience shows that these morning circles were a great way to feel connected to the camp. They're generally all but mandatory, especially for new folks in the Yes family!
Creations from our past incarnations...
  • We have two 10m domes which hold workshops by day, and events by night. Camp members are given first dibs on event's they'd like to host, and should be prepared with any supplies their events require.
  • We designed and built a large (250sq m) shade structure which is sufficient to cover our tent village and makes those precious few moments of rest that much more comfortable. Town planning helps us to ensure a beautiful and organized village where tripping over tent wires is kept to a minimum.
  • We have a basic camp shower, which can be refilled from our water cubes. This is a slightly manual process, intentionally, to keep awareness regarding water usage high.
  • Kitchen consisting of a 4x6 meter party tent, stocked full of pots and pans and various other camping related food prep items.  We attach the party tent to the side of our container to help with the wind.
  • We have enough electricity to keep the lights on and refrigerators cold. Cameras, led lights, battery packs, etc can be accommodated. We probably don't have the power for a 10k watt sound system though, which is fitting since we camp at the quiet end of the Nowhere site.
  • We make a very tall beacon of some sort every year, so those weary eyed of us can find their way home safely.
  • We created a lounge area in '19, and expect to expand it and make it more comfortable for '22.  This may have included a cuddle puddle kiddy pool full of pillows (and hippies)
Family Building
While Nowhere may officially last a week, we believe that this journey starts when you apply for camp, and lasts indefinitely afterwards. As our Yes! community is quite diverse, generally coming from 15+ countries each year, pre-burn we have a number of camp calls to get people connected. This helps both with the logistical planning side of things, as well as planting the seeds which grow into the relationships and projects we all crave.

While the world may have needed video chats for other reasons over these past two summers, we look forward to having these calls for great and positive reasons in 2022!  Won't you join us?
What Yes! Camp is NOT:
  • A Consent free zone: This should be obvious, but consent is vital to the success of our camp and to Nowhere as a whole. Early during the Burn week, we will have a discussion/workshop regarding consent which we expect everyone to attend. There will also be multiple point persons (with varied gender identities) for Consent related guidance and issue resolution. Anyone who cannot adhere to common consent practices will be removed from our camp without hesitation.
  • A "pay-to-play camp": we expect every member to have a role within the camp and/or within the greater Nowhere community.  This is in addition to being a part of a kitchen dinner shift. This is a fundamental part of burns across the globe, as these worlds could not be enjoyed if we didn't spend the time to build (and later strike) them. There is also a psychological bond which is formed by being part of the creation of something as special as Nowhere, and we certainly wouldn't want you to miss out on that.
  • Politically correct: We are an inclusive camp, but not a politically correct camp. We try not to be to heavy on the political spectrum, and are not looking for people to slap us across the wrists for saying something inappropriate. (Other reasons for slapping may in fact be welcome, see the consent note above and discuss first with the slappee)  We are of course LGBT friendly, and strive to build a diverse family each year. We are all people, living our lives, and coming from exceptionally varied backgrounds. If you fancy aggressively taking on the role of "PC Police" then we're probably not the camp for you. We do have a Naughty Teacher role (and other excuses for cute outfits) though, but you'll have to join the camp first to find out more about that.
  • A sex camp: Yes, public displays of love may happen in our camp, but it is not our main focus. Sexuality is one of the aspects of life we love saying Yes! to, but not the only one.
  • A photo free zone: We work hard to build this place, and some of us appreciate photos to help foster the memories. We understand consent, and have private means of sharing them post burn. If you're allergic to the concept of a camera existing in camp, we may not be the place for you.
  • A dictatorship: First and foremost, we're a family with a structure not unlike an extended family from a former era. We come together once a year for this reunion called Nowhere to build, play and destroy our part of a city located on a lovely bit of the Spanish desert. We love people who want to contribute and their ideas and energy towards making the family stronger. We're wary of people who want to turn the boat around and head for Antarctica. By all means work with us to achieve something amazing, help us plan, soo much planning, and this will all be yours too!
